time flew by. My graduation date is May 21. My GPA is 3.878, and it should be higher after this semester. I am graduating
second in my nursing class, magna cum laude. I will begin working at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Registered Nurse in August. I will
be on the Pediatric Oncology Unit, where I worked as an extern over the summer. I am very excited to start there, I

starts at 7:00pm and the Squires gathering will begin at around 8:45pm. Classmates and their guests are invited to either, or both. Just

Note from DHS Principal
The following note was sent on April 17, 2009 from the Dundalk High School Principal, Dr. Tom Shouldice, to our classmate,
Jason Wetzel, regarding the proposed replacement of the DHS building:
Mr. Wetzel,
I have just returned from a teachers recruiting trip and received your message. I agree, it just seems like yesterday
that DHS was under construction and now we are on the brink of replacing the building. I say building, because as you
point out, the school is really the people - kids and teachers- who are the real fabric of the school. AS a building,
DHS has served the community since 1959 with little alteration or upgrade - the building is just worn out, and it would
be a waste to pour $66 million into renovation with little to show.
The new building will be state of the art for Maryland and in conjunction with Sollers and CCBC will form an impressive
anchor for our community. Certainly before we get to open the new facility, we will be inviting alums back and will have
some way to give them a remembrance of the 2nd (or is it the 3rd) DHS.
Thanks for your feedback and keep in touch.

Barbara's Scholarship Note Barbara Durkin's note to classmates provides an eloquent summary of the value of our
scholarship program. Please consider making a generous donation to this very worthy cause.
2009 Annual Bull and Shrimp Feast Everyone had a
great time at the Dundalk High School Alumni Association Annual Bull and Shrimp Feast, which was held at the UAW Hall on
Sunday February 8. Click here to see the photos from that event.
Status of our 2008-2009 Scholarship Fund
Donations for the Scholarship fund are running a little
behind last year's record. Please continue to support this worthwhile cause.
Congratulations to Jim Pitt Read the news story about our classmate Jim
Pitt, who has been inducted into the Dundalk Sports Hall Of Fame. Jim, who starred in soccer, basketball, and baseball
at Dundalk High, was a first team All-American while playing at the University of Maryland and coached the Severna Park
High baseball team for 30 years. Jim also led the nation in hitting in 1964 while at Maryland. From 1965-1969 Jim was a
member of The Minnesota Twins organization. Jim joins Dick Edell, of our class, who was inducted a few years ago. The
class of 62 is proud of your achievement.
The License Plate Auction is over Roy Zang submitted the winning bid of
$100 for the license plate auction. These specialized plates were made available through the The Dundalk Renaissance
Corporation (DRC) as part of their efforts to commemorate our hometown. Proceeds from our auction will go directly to
our scholarship fund... every cent is strictly for the kids. The plates will look great on Roy's restored 1957 Chevy.
2008 Annual Fall Picnic On Saturday October 11th,
we held our annual Fall Picnic. Click here for the photos Thirty-seven classmates and
their guests attended. More new faces came to enjoy the get together. They came from as far as Florida. A great time was
had by all. Thanks to Roy Zang for supplying the restored 1957 Belair Chevy we used as a background for the pictures. We
also wish to give a big thanks to Cookie McCarty (Cherry) for letting us use her beautiful home for the picnic. We hope
to see you at our next gathering!
2008-2009 Scholarship Campaign Kick-off On
October 1, 2008, our class kicked off this year's DHS Class of '62 Scholarship campaign. Click here to read the flyer on our current fundraising
effort.
2007-2008 Scholarship Campaign Ends See our Scholarship page for the final results of the 2007-2008
Scholarship Drive and the alphabetized list of donors. Contributions for the 2008 scholarship totaled $7,084, with
funds coming from 48 individuals, including 8 first time donors. Donations ranged from $15 to $1,000 and a few folks
sent multiple donations. We will continue to support Dundalk High graduates next year. As in previous years, your
contributions in any amount are always welcome. Checks should be made payable to Class of 62 Scholarship Fund and sent
to the fund Treasurer: Ginny (Beard) Gray, PO Box 70, Washington Grove MD 20880.
2008 Scholarship Winner: Hortensia Montoya Over the past few years, the DHS Class of '62
has awarded a total of $38,000 in scholarships to eleven graduating DHS seniors. On May 21, 2008 we presented our
scholarship to Hortensia Maria Montoya, a superior scholar, athlete, and true friend to her classmates. Hortensia has
played soccer, volleyball and lacrosse, served on her class steering committee, and still has managed to maintain a 3.78
QPA! Pretty impressive, and well-deserving of our $5,000 award (still the largest award of any other DHS alumni class).
Like all of our other scholarship recipients, this young woman plans to "give back". After attending St. Mary's
College, she'd like to teach English in Baltimore County.
The Goofus Gazette Barbara (Wernecke) Durkin is
writing/editing/publishing what she describes as a "smart-alecky newsletter" called The Goofus Gazette: a Journal for
Jesters. This publication comes out every Monday and is totally free. It includes many funny stories from our
classmates and other friends, often recalling our Dundalk days, and general humorous items everyone seems to enjoy very
much. So far the mailing list includes about 120 old friends and others, and is growing. Anyone who is interested in
receiving this should contact Barbara at goofusgazette@gmail.com
2008 Annual Bull and Shrimp Roast On Sunday February 10th, 2008, the
Dundalk Alumni Association held their Annual Bull and Shrimp Roast at the UAW Hall in Canton, Baltimore. A great crowd
attended representing many different classes from Dundalk High School. As usual, the Class of 62 was well represented.
A great time was had by all. Plan to attend the next Roast. You will have a great time. Pictures of those attending from
our class are on the photo page. Check them out!
45th Reunion Photos Photos from the September 2007 Squires Party and the 45th Reunion Party are
available on the Photos page. Twenty-five classmates attended the Squires party, and had a great time reliving their
high school days at DHS. It was the perfect warm up for the Saturday Night Reunion. Our 45th Class Reunion held on
Saturday September 15, 2007 at Columbus Gardens was a huge success. Sixty-eight classmates and their spouses or guests
attended. A few daring classmates even ventured on to the dance floor, doing some of the old dances (including The
Madison). The food was great and the DJ was fantastic. Don't miss
the 50th Reunion in 2012.
